Overview of School Leadership Structure
There are three leadership teams that together with the administrative team form the core of the leadership and organization of FHM. Each leadership team includes representation from both the community and school administration. The administrative team works in concert with the three leadership teams to further the mission of FHM in delivering a comprehensive program grounded in Montessori educational excellence. The following table provides a quick overview of each of the leadership team responsibilities.
|Free Horizon Montessori School||Free Horizon Montessori Foundation|
|FHM Board of Directors||Administration
|School Accountability Committee||Community Support Network|
If it’s “strategic” it belongs to the BOD
Hires & evaluates the Principal
Sets school policy
If it’s “operational” it belongs to the Principal
Handles day-to-day functions of the school
Sets yearly academic goals and monitors progress toward them
Creates, distributes, and compiles results from the “Make Your Voice Heard” parent and staff annual surveys
Generates the annual School Improvement Plan to submit to the Colorado Department of Education
Separate non-profit entity established to provide fund-raising for the school
All fund-raising efforts support FHM’s fundamental objectives of Individualized Instruction, Engaging Curriculum, and Strong Community
Because it’s a separate entity from the school, the CSN has its own governing Board of Directors
Also provides the community-building activities for the school
Annual School Performance Report
At the start of each school year, the Principal provides a School Performance Report to the community, outlining how FHM students performed on the statewide assessments during March of the previous school year as compared with students in Jeffco and throughout Colorado. Data from these assessments is used in formulating the school's Unified Improvement Plan.
Annual State of the School Meeting
Each April, the FHM Leadership Teams host a State of the School Meeting, where each group reports on their accomplishments for the year as well as plans for the future. Click on the link below for the slides from the most recent Annual State of the School Meeting.
- 2015 State of the School Meeting
- 2014 State of the School Meeting
- 2013 State of the School Meeting
- 2011 State of the School Meeting
- 2010 State of the School Meeting
Occasionally, the school leadership teams hold Town Hall meetings in order to share important information or solicit community feedback in a timely manner.
Getting Involved with a Leadership Team
Each year, three of our Leadership Teams solicit new members for specific terms of service. Look here for information about how you can get involved and fulfill your volunteer commitment through service on the Board of Directors, the School Accountability Committee, or the FHM Foundation.
